Melissa and Mark of Colorado Springs opened up their home to Flat Stanley recently.
He met their dog named Daisy, enjoyed the view of the Pike's Peak mountains, and played in his first snow! So many first and we have been told that he is behaving himself quite well - thank goodness he packs light!
He is off to Georgia now, can't wait to hear about his adventures there.

Visiting Texas!
Flat Stanley Lovett has been visiting the Lone Star State for a little bit now and he has been having a BLAST!!!
He got to crash a "teenager" party.....he went to the local fields and watched a soccer game with his buddies William and Brett.....and the picture of the Texas state flag was taken inside of a Kindergarten class of his good friend Mrs. Kopp.
Thank you Kopp Family for taking care of our friend!
I wonder what state he's headed to next!?!?!?!?

And He's Off!
After some delays in getting his passport finalized and his paperwork in order - Flat Stanley is finally leaving our family. : (
As you can tell by the pic he is in the Outgoing mail and off on his adventure. We drew his first family randomly and it looks like he is headed to Granbury, TX to visit The Kopp Family! Take care of our little guy and check back here often for updates.

Music that Moves You
Crossing Our Fingers
I must admit I am a little worried about Stanley's behavior - I mean he is representing our family - while at Office Depot we caught him goofing around on the tower of carts, this could have been very dangerous - thankfully he is okay. But I do want to warn my friends that you do need to keep a close eye on this guy! But I am definitely crossing my fingers that he behaves while he is away.

Cut and Style
The Planning Process
I thought alot about how we could make our Flat Stanley durable enough to withstand the US Postal Service. We decided to print up the Flat Stanley template, adhere it to a thin cardboard, and then laminate him to ensure the longest possible life for our little explorer. Here's a picture of Flat Stanley Lovett getting prepped to be "styled" by the kids.
An Explorer Is Born
Inspired by my friend Anita and her son's adventure with his Flat Stanley project I decided to introduce my own children to the world of Flat Stanley.
Jeff Brown wrote the book "Flat Stanley" in 1964. It is the tale of boy that is flattened by a bulletin board and ultimately is able to visit friends around the globe by being sent via an envelope. This book has inspired countless teachers and parents around the world to incorporate projects such as this into their own learning environment, and now it is our turn.
I hope the families that are participating with us will read some of the Flat Stanley books to their children and maybe even learn about some of the places that our Flat Stanley Lovett has traveled to by reading his journal that will accompany him on his journey.
A huge thank you to all of my friends and family that have agreed to host Flat Stanley Lovett into their home.
